A visit to Plaza de la Danza, Oaxaca, Mexico

Not far from the very central attractions of Oaxaca City, is this magnificent plaza, which is used for many celebrations.

I was hoping that this tarp, used to shelter participants of the many festivities that take place in the plaza, was going to be down. In the end, I liked photographing the plaza with the tarp in place, showing the contrasts between the simple stretched modern fabric, and the stone of the surrounding buildings.

Peaking over the top of the huge tarp.

The super elaborate facade of the Basilica of Our Lady of Solitude ....
Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad,
on the west end of the plaza

Opposite the Basilica is this university of the arts

This is one of those places around Oaxaca where I am sure to return for more photography, perhaps many times.
