Not far from the very central attractions of Oaxaca City, is this magnificent plaza, which is used for many celebrations.
I was hoping that this tarp, used to shelter participants of the many festivities that take place in the plaza, was going to be down. In the end, I liked photographing the plaza with the tarp in place, showing the contrasts between the simple stretched modern fabric, and the stone of the surrounding buildings. |

Peaking over the top of the huge tarp. |
The super elaborate facade of the Basilica of Our Lady of Solitude .... Basílica de Nuestra Señora de la Soledad, on the west end of the plaza |
Opposite the Basilica is this university of the arts |
This is one of those places around Oaxaca where I am sure to return for more photography, perhaps many times. |
